Every two years, people from across our community come together to honour and celebrate business excellence in Salmon Arm. The Business Excellence Awards are intended to publicly recognize all successful companies in the area, and acknowledge the hard working people behind them who continue to demonstrate a passion for business excellence. The awards also promote the advancement of responsible business leadership and harmony within our community.

STEP 1 - Review the Categories and Criteria

1. Business of the Year Award

  • Recognizing overall business excellence and achievement in a for-profit business
  • Business owner and staff consistently demonstrate a commitment to excellence
  • Demonstrated business growth and development
  • Is a role model for excellence for other businesses

6. Business Improvement

  • For a progressive business that has physically enhanced their business premises and/or their service in a for-profit business
  • Demonstrates a marked improvement in business premises or business practices
  • Has overcome extraordinary obstacles to achieve success
  • Demonstrated ability to think outside the box when dealing with business challenges

2. Rookie of the Year

  • For outstanding achievement in the first 18 months in a for-profit business
  • Demonstrates initiative in both business and community involvement
  • Enhances the business community in Salmon Arm
  • Demonstrates a strong focus on overall business excellence

7. Employer of the Year - For-profit Business

  • For demonstrated commitment to the highest standards of human resources practices
  • Recognizes their employees as their most important asset
  • Demonstrates commitment to excellence in employee relations 

3. Excellence in Customer Service - Individual

  • For demonstrated commitment to excellent service by an individual
  • Dedicated to providing consistently high-quality customer service and care
  • Continually exceeds customer expectations of excellence in service

8. Community Booster - Community Contribution

  • For remarkable contributions to community initiatives by a non-profit community-based organization, group or government agency
  • Makes a significant contribution to the Salmon Arm community
  • Represents and promotes the community in a positive ways

4. Excellence in Customer Service - Business

  • For demonstrated commitment to excellent service by a for-profit business
  • Dedicated to providing consistently high-quality customer service and care
  • Continually exceeds customer expectations of excellence in service

9. Lifetime Business Achievement - Acknowledgement by Community Review Committee

For remarkable contributions and achievements made by individual and/or family in the Salmon Arm business community.  This award honours and celebrates the contributions of long-time or pioneering residents/families and as such those considered for this award must have been a resident and business person in Salmon Arm for not less than 20 years.

5. Business Person of the Year

  • For overall business excellence and achievement in a for-profit business
  • Demonstrated growth and development
  • Acts as a role model for other businesses
  • Consistently demonstrates commitment to business and customer care excellence
 
STEP 2 - Read Rules & Regulations
  1. Nominees must meet all the criteria set out in their respective awards categories.
  2. The nominees must operate in the Shuswap area and have a valid business license where registered.
  3. To make your nominations valid, you must complete you name/address and phone number
  4. Nomination forms with "No Reason for Nomination" will not be considered for judging.
